Cartagena, Colombia
I took an extra special family trip to Cartagena, Colombia back in July. I didn’t have intentions on creating a blog post on this because the trip was more about connecting to my roots and spending time with my mom and aunt but as I was just scrolling through my camera roll and looking at all the food photos I have, I thought this was way too good not to share!
We stayed at Bastion Luxury Hotel for 5 days, this place is beautiful with an amazing staff. We had other hotels on our list when deciding where to stay but this one was our final decision and we were so happy!
If you’re looking to visit Cartagena here are my top picks for hotel stays:
Aside from a beautiful stay at a beautiful hotel, Cartagena is a walking city so although hanging out by the pool all day is tempting you’ll definitely want to get out and explore. There’s something new to see on every corner; restaurants, shops, historic buildings, the list goes on. It truly is an amazing experience full of culture and good food! Which bring me to a list of restaurants I highly recommend:
La Paleterria - Ice cream
La Esquina del PandeBono - this a must if you like pan de bono and their open 24 hours!
BARS
El Balaurte San Francisco Javier ( food and drinks)
Aside from these awesome places, we decided to do a food tour. This was my first time ever doing this but we knew Cartagena had so much to offer that we didn’t want to miss the hidden gems and learn a bit of History while we were at it. If you’re interested in an experience like this I HIGHLY recommend De La Mesa Cartagena food tour. The tour was about 2-3 hours long, and our tour guide was such a sweet heart and joy to be with!
